Howard Douglas Forth Jr.

Doug Forth, 50 years young, of Schaumburg, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.

Doug was born October 29, 1967, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of the late Howard Douglas Forth and Mary Ann Forth Buckner.  He is preceded in death by his father.  He is survived by his son Dakota Lee Forth of Mount Prospect, Illinois; his mother, Mary Ann Forth Buckner of Schaumburg, Illinois; his sister Lisa Cinelli, and her husband, Jim and their five children, of Hartland Wisconsin.

A graduate of Hoffman Estates High School class of 1985. Doug served as an aircraft mechanic in the US Navy.  Doug returned to civilian life and leveraged the skills he learned in the Navy to become a successful project manager of digital integration systems.

Doug was an avid hunter and outdoorsman as well as a talented musician and singer, and he loved nothing more than to share these passions with his friends and family.  His vibrance for life and love of others meant that Doug was surrounded by countless wonderful people from diverse backgrounds and all  walks of life, yet they all shared a common bond of love and friendship.  He was truly larger than life itself, and always made friends and family feel loved, important and welcomed.  Doug could naturally light up a room upon his arrival and was quick with his hugs, and a good story or two.  His music was an outlet of his passion and emotion, and anyone who had the pleasure of seeing him perform felt enveloped by his energy.  Doug was a devoted father, brother and son who valued family above all else.

A celebration of Dougs life will be held on Saturday August 4th at the Church of the Cross Presbyterian Church, 475 West Higgins Rd. Hoffman Estates, Il.  Visitation will be held at 1pm followed by a celebration ceremony at 2pm.  Refreshments will be served.

Doug had a deep love for the Native American Indian culture and felt connected to them.  The Church of the Cross participates in the Dakota Partnership which is a program led by Chicagoland Presbyterian churches that provides support and mission work to the Native American communities in the Dakotas and Montana.  In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in the form of a check to the Church of the Cross with a notation it be donated to the Dakota Project in memory of Douglas Forth.

Not sure what to say?

Doug and I were good friends who met in Virginia where both of us were in the Navy together. I was sad to hear of his passing. He definitely was a great person. Still keep him and his family in my thoughts. Rest in peace my friend.

Doug lived right down the street from me when we were young teenagers, and I remember the day he first moved in..seeing him shadow boxing the tree leaves, and then him introducing himself , and how we became fast friends. He was a year older and had a great influence over me with his never ending optimism and love of life. He had this great respect of the fire and romance of the old south, and passed that along to me. He always new where a party was and if there wasn't any, he would kick one...

Doug, you will be truly missed. Rest in peace my brother
