I never knew Doug but Natalee is one of my favorite “Post friends” and I’m sorry for her loss and the loss of everyone that loved Doug.

Clyde Douglas Shepherd, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023. He was born May 17, 1932 to the late Otis and Annie Mae Shepherd in Garza County. He graduated from Post High School in 1949. Doug married the love of his life, Natalee Tracy in 1954 and they were married 69 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Junior Shepherd and Bill Shepherd. Doug is survived by wife Natalee and their three sons Rick (Cindy), Mike (Stacie) and Brad (Holli); 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 3 sisters, Mamie Burdick, Joan Whitaker, and Melba Smallwood.
Doug was a cotton farmer and later gin manager for Grassland Coop Gin for 27 years. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed all the birthday and holiday gatherings. It was the joy of his life to be involved in his grandchildren’s activities. Doug especially enjoyed Cousins Week when all the grandchildren would come to Nana’s and Papa’s house. In his later years he was blessed to know his great grandchildren and they brought him great joy.
Arrangements are under the care of Hudman Funeral Home, Post, Texas. Visitation will be on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The graveside service will be held at Terrace Cemetery on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bryan Wardroup officiating.
