Not sure what to say?

I am sorry to hear about Doug. He made a huge impact in my life always for the better. I pray for peace and comfort for his family

Laura and I send our love and thoughts to all the Bates and Getman families, and to Wesa at such an unexpected loss, With caring and affection, Nancy Lee Getman

Doug was both a very special, real, faithful and true brother, and even father to me, most of all, for that matter, as well.

A remarkable man, who always had time to give counsel. His zest for life was memorable and worth emulating. I feel fortunate to have known Doug.

I and the rest of our family will miss our very special brother, faithful and devoted husband and father Doug, to NOT only Gracie and Rufie, and even Hooker, but to also Carl, Lou, Bobbie, Nancy and his and our wonderful and very special Mom, Wesa, very much, without a question of a doubt, most of all.

Grace, My thoughts and prayers go out to you on the loss of your husband. I so miss talking with you when we worked at the hospital.

My late husband John died in 1994 after a long illness. Doug and John had gone to high school together...Came running to help his friend visiting us many times during s 18 month illness. ... And calling often. After John died Doug, Gracie,
And Rufus opened their life to me in Aurora, NYC.
Will never be able to thank The whole extended family for
Letting me in. I love you Grace Windsor Bates & Rufus . https://www.face book.com/lory.gambrill/posts/10206314552403367

Doug had me over to his house in junior high--I remember he played a Richie Valens album at a time when I was discovering rock 'n' roll. Doug was always laughing, you all know his little giggle. Went through Pingry School with him, then after college we got on the bus to the draft board together. He even giggled about that. Great guy, I always loved seeing him at Pingry reunions! Godspeed, Doug.

I well mess you very much ,you were there if one needed you. In my heart I know you are now in a much better place. The town of Aurora well always will not be the same without you Mr. Bates.
