Not sure what to say?

Doug was my teacher, my mentor, my friend. He taught me so much over the years. I started teaching with Doug 30 years ago this month after completing his orthodontic program. After a few days as a faculty member, Doug said to me "You don't talk too much, we are going to get along just fine" and we did. He was a great boss. He took interest in my family. He was there as my son and daughter grew up. He attended their weddings and saw them have their own children. Doug loved to talk about his...

Dear Barbara and Brenda and families:

Douglas, as we always called him at home in Milltown, Wisconsin, was a fine man. He and his brother,
Gary, were an inspiration to me growing up. I followed them both to work at Lindoo Drug. He often came to visit us at home. I am sorry we lived so far away. My wife, Anne, and I were pleased to be able to visit him in Portland about five years ago. He'd have been happy to know we are finally rebuilding the cabin on Half Moon Lake. ...

My deepest sympathies to Barbara, Brenda and their families.
Doug was my friend and colleague for over 40 years and he will be
greatly missed. His influence on the practice of Orthodontics in
the Northwest and Internationally will be remembered for
generations.
Due to prior obligations, I will be unable to attend the celebration,
but I will be with you in spirit.

We came to know Doug as members of Rose City Yacht Club. We remember fondly delivery trips "up north" and time on the river. It will truly take "three men and a boy" to approach the measure of Doug's bright light on this earth.

To the family of Doug Buck,

We just heard the news about his passing as we visited our first home and old friends and neighbors in Tualatin yesterday. We were neighbors with Dr. Doug (as we called him) for 12 years. We admired his sense of adventure and his love for the outdoors. He was a kind person and after we moved away we missed his impromptu visits to share a bottle of wine and conversation on any given day. We will always treasure the beautiful antique clock he restored...

Barbara and Brenda,

It's always such a loss when we lose our dads. We grieve for and with you. I'm sorry we won't be able to attend the memorial service. We will be out of town.

I thank your Dad for choosing me to be one of his residents allowing me to be a part of the great profession of orthodontics. You might appreciate a funny story about how your Dad related to his residents.

We decided that we didn't think it was important to wear a tie, so he went...

My deepest sympathy to Barbara and Brenda and families on your sad loss.
Unfortunately Paula and I will be unable to attend the memorial service as we will be out of the country at that time but our thoughts will be with you.
I first met Doug in Spokane at an orthodontic meeting in 1973. He asked me if I would like to join the Orthodontic Department at OHSU as a full time faculty member. I owe him a debt of gratitude as I would probably not be in Oregon nor would I have met my wife...

Barbara & Brenda and family, I am so, so sorry for your loss of your dad. I saw his name in the newspaper & wanted to send you my deepest condolences. I swam on a swim team many years ago. I have fond memories of you and wanted to send you my heartfelt sympathy. Barb "Bo" Law Mitchell
