I had Mr. Canning for science. He was a good teacher. May God be with his family and give each one the comfort and peace needed during this difficult time!

Colonel Doug was a real American Hero having served his country in three of its conflicts to insure our freedoms were preserved. The longevity he enjoyed allowed many of us to know and appreciate him as an individual and value his contributions. His Legacy places him in history as a military hero and a citizen of the greatest nation in the world.

I have many fond memories of Doug at gatherings of the Yamamoto pilots. He was a good friend of my father, Rex Barber. With his passing another page on WWII history is turned. God bless the Greatest generation. Fly safe Doug.

To the Canning family, please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your dearly loved Douglas. May the many fond and happy memories always warm your hearts. And may the loving prayer with a promise found in Matthew 6:9-13 give you some peace and comfort during this difficult time.
