Not sure what to say?

Mr. Davis was a groovy teacher. I still have my fine collection of his pens. He also opened my ears to great music. It's a bummer he is gone.

On behalf of my mother Joyce, my sister Diane, and myself we want to thank everyone for sharing fond memories and kind words of encouragement regarding our beloved Doug, or as his students appropriately dubbed him "King Doug."

We deeply miss Doug for few people are as full as life as he. His natural ability to lead, to encourage others do their best, his love for all nature, for music, for his friends and family will resonate through the legacy those of us he's left behind.

We...

So very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Everyone loved it whenever Red Vino played a gig at my tavern. He will be sorely missed.

My husband, Dan, and I were close friends of Doug through our teen years and college. The 3 of us played guitar and sang together, and even won a talent contest during our days at Millersville. Doug was extraordinarily talented, and a great teacher even before his teaching days. We have reminisced and thought about him many times over the years. May God bless and give comfort to his family and loved ones.

Doug Davis, Camp Chiquetan Staff, 1968

This make me so sad. As members of the Camp Chiquetan Staff during the summer of '68, Doug and I were tent-mates. Doug's talent and skill with the guitar and banjo were the magnet that drew others to our little corner of the camp. Although we lost touch with each other over the years, I often thought of Doug. Rest in Peace, Old Friend.

English was far from my favorite subject in school, but Mr. Davis was a great teacher and I loved his class. He was quite the character and had an obvious passion for his job. I've thought about his class often over the years (the hallmark of a great teacher). My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Wow, I just found one if his pencils the other month, he was amazing! We tried to bribe him with crabs and beer if he'd erase our detention hours. Rest easy brother.

Doug was not only a wonderful teacher, but a great advisor and friend. Even though I haven't sat in his classroom since 2001, I still think and speak of him often. Over the years, I've made important choices in life around my education, my relationships and even some of the adventures I've dared to take. I made those choices after visits, phone calls and letters with him or with his voice in my head. I will always think of him as I think he would have loved me to - celebrating life, fishing...

A great teacher and friend, you will be missed.
