DUMONT, Douglas S. - Of Flint, age 80, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Reverend Karen K. Price officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VFW Camp Trotter for Children, 924 N. Washington Ave., Lansing, MI 48906. Visitation 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Douglas was born in Burton Township on June 25, 1931, the son of Earl and Bertha Dumont. He married Barbara Hendrick on May 1, 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired from the Navy in 1971. He was a member of VFW Post #822. After his retirement, Mr. Dumont was a barber and realtor. Douglas was a loving husband, father and gramps. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; daughter, Sharry Dumont and partner Dianne; son, Joe and wife Marcella; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephew, Bernie and wife Vickie Dumont.
