Funeral services for Mr. Douglas McArthur Durden will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken with Pastor Richard Swift officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Owens, Richy Brensinger, Eddie Strom, Wallace Anderson, Larry Mimbs, and Nathan Timmons. The family will receive friends tonight (Friday) from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ Central, 3605 Richland Ave, W, Aiken, SC, 29801. Mr. Durden, 66, of Aiken, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Norristown, GA, he was the son of the late Waldo R. Durden and Valrie Mimbs Heady. He moved to Aiken in 1952 from Dublin, GA. Douglas enjoyed selling cars so he established Durden's Auto in Aiken. Douglas attended Cedar Creek Church. He enjoyed listing to music and dancing every weekend. Douglas also enjoyed travel in his later years, but most of all he liked to entertain with childhood memories. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three nephews. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Tony) Young, Charleston, SC; Angela (Carl) Johnson, Mt. Pleasant, SC; sisters, Shelvie (Jim) Hutchinson, Aiken; Ann (Jimmy) Payne, Sumter, SC; brother, Neal Heady, Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Dustin Ennis, Hannah Ennis, Ava Johnson, nieces, Beverly (Wallace) Anderson, Elyse (Richy) Brensinger, Joy (Nathan) Timmons, numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends
