ENGLER, DOUGLAS FLETCHER – Of Flushing, age 67, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, surrounded by some of the people he loved the most at McLaren-Flint.


Cremation has taken place per his wishes. No service will be held at this time, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.


Douglas was born in Del Rio, Texas on May 21, 1956, the son of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Yeacker) Engler.


On June 10, 2008 he married Lynn at Grace Lutheran Church.



He loved being a PaPa to his granddaughters. He loved all animals, especially birds, trips to the casino; painting, which he continued to do so after his retirement from GM.


He loved people and could make a friend anywhere.


Surviving are his “darling granddaughter”, Cheyanne (Brendon) Wiles and 8 more beautiful girls, Julia, Kali, Lillie, Abi, Faith, Shaila, Serenity and Sydney;


his son, Steve (Faith) Engler and bonus sons, Scott (Diane) Decker, Eric (Shannon) Decker, Matt (Heather) Decker and Patrick (Maddie) Gross;


3 brothers, Michael (Kim) Engler, Scott Engler and Kraig (Kathy) Engler.


several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn; father, Kenneth Engler and mother, Elizabeth Engler.

Not sure what to say?

I met Doug several months back at the Flushing Senior Center. He got to be part of the lunch group. He was always kind and friendly. He didn’t seem like a big talker so when he did talk I know his words meant something. He will be missed at the Center. Rest in heaven Doug.
