Douglas Gansl Obituary

Gansl, Douglas
1951 - 2020
Douglas B. Gansl, D.D.S., passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 69 years of age. Devoted husband of 42 years to Karen (Walser) and loving father to Matthew and Molly. Son of Samuel and Hannah Gansl (deceased) and brother, Scott, from Trenton, NJ. Doug was known for his quick wit, easy banter and was unbeatable at trivia games. He practiced dentistry for 32 years in Grove City and loved caring for his patients. He enjoyed life to the fullest during his 6 years of retirement and discovered the joys of happy hour. Doug was an avid runner and 3 times Boston Marathon finisher. He loved running with his friends on Saturday mornings. He was a member of Worthington Christian Church and a volunteer reading teaching at Westerville and Worthington City Schools. He was a good man, a loyal friend, and loved by all who knew him. He loved his God, his family, and his country, and will be sorely missed. A public visitation will be held at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High Street, Worthington, OH 43085 on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 4-7PM. Face mask will be required upon entry into the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10AM at Worthington Christian Church, 8145 North High St., Columbus, OH 43235. Matt, I’m so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of your Father. I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting him, but he definitely raised an incredibly kind son. You truly are a special person, I’m sure your Father is very proud of you! (We need to go on another adventure soon and find more hidden lakes!) Lots of Love- your neighbor.... Jess.

Matt, I didn't know your Dad well. Any man who raised you to be the kind, humorous, and goofy man that you have become must have been wonderful. I am sorry for your loss and share your pain. I am here to talk if you need.

I also was a patient of his for his entire career. Great sense of humor.
I almost enjoyed dental visits because of him and his staff.

Once I complained about cost of a service in a friendly way. This was while he was getting the office reroofed. At my next visit, there was a shingle and a thank you card for helping pay for the roof.

Condolences to his family.

My family was a patient of Dr. Gansl for 32 years beginning when he was with Dr. Linn in the Society Bank building on Hoover Rd in Grove City. He was such a kind and patient dentist who was part of family until he retired. I will never forget one weekend I accidentally broke my front tooth and waited until Monday to call this office and got right into the office. Dr. Gansl said that I could have called him at home during the weekend and he would have come to the office and helped mend my tooth. Such a nice memory. My heart is broken for his family.

I am at a loss for words. This is so heartbreaking.

I have many fond memories of visiting Uncle Doug and Aunt Karen as a kid.
I can hear him calling her Max.

I will miss his humor and our talks over the coffee we drank in the mornings when I was visiting.

He is gone way too soon.
We will miss him.

Uncle Doug was always the sweetest and most caring guy. He always looked out for me, and I always could share a good laugh with him. I always have fond memories when I think of him. He always wanted the best for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have had him in my life. He will be deeply missed.

I only saw Doug once or twice a year when he would visit Cleveland and must say he always lit up the room with his smile and kind words. I am simply heartbroken but have very fond memories. The photograph really captures his essence. He will be missed. My condolences to Karen, Matthew and Molly and extended family.
