Not sure what to say?

My cousin, and best friend when we were kids. I hoped we'd get together again as you slowed down at work. We had so many good times with all our family members. You will not be forgotten.

To the family of DOUG HELEIN:

Know of our deep prayerful sympathy on the passing of QUINCY UNIVERSITY alumnus, board member and dedicated supporter DOUGLAS P. HELEIN. His leadership, initiative and philanthropy to his Alma Mater will not be forgotten! He is remembered in the Masses and prayers of the Franciscan Fathers, students and staff of QUINCY UNIVERSITY.
May DOUG rest in peace!

My cousin, my brother, my friend. You will never be forgotten and I know you are up there in Heaven smiling down on us. Too young to leave us, but forever in our hearts.

TO THE HELEIN FAMILY:
DOUG was an unforgettable person who truly loved and was dedicated to the NEW CATHEDRAL BASILICA.
His lengthy service as Choir Member,
Fish Fry Chairman, Parish Council Member, and numerous other positions show his love and dedication for our landmark church and for others! DOUG, you will truly be missed by your New Cathedral Basilica Parish Family--and you will be remembered in our Masses and our prayers!

We met 27 years ago as I remember, and instantly bonded a unique friendship that I have always cherished. There are too many memories to even try to speak of but we shared a relationship as mentor when there was a business idea, and a shoulder and an ear when there was a personal issue.

My only regret was that I didn’t spend more time with you these last few months when you needed me the most. My faith has assured me that you are in a better place and the reunion with those...

The loss of my dear friend Doug is compounded with the pain that I cannot be there to share the love and remembrances of this wonderful, caring, generous and loving person. I can only say that Doug's example of charity and genuine regard for all humankind will live in us that are woefully left behind. His presence will be missed by more persons than any of us can imagine, and more than he would ever know. Thank you, Doug, for being your unique self. I know that his mother, Honey, and father,...

I will really miss Douglas. One day I was walking down my street near the Greystone, walking my dog and I looked up to see the Greystone. At that exact moment Douglas called my cell and we had a nice chat. There are other memories, but this is how I'll remember him. Chatting away about his interests and asking me about mine.

I will always be thankful that I can call Doug a personal friend, a collegemate, my insurance agent, my organist at my wedding, and the list goes on. While having dinner recently, he was concerned with my health, but that was Doug always concerned about others. We bonded the summer before starting college and it was a friendship I will always treasure. You will be missed by more than you will ever know.

Thanks Doug for all of the great insurance advice you shared over the years with fellow college roommates. Thanks also for always making time to reconnect and reminisce over the phone. We'll never forget all of the great times shared at Quincy University. Most of all, thank you for being our friend. We will miss you, but know that you are at peace.
