R.I.P. Doug

Doug would always call me at 5:30 every night. When he didn´t call I knew something was wrong. Nick and I went to his house and found him. I still miss his nightly calls. Rest in Peace Doug!

To this day I still include Doug in my prayers while on my way to work on the water. Miss him dearly, he was a good human and added much needed color in my world. Miss you Captain.

Got a new boat Doug and I'm going to need some advice when I'm on the water I hope to feel your wisdom and, guidance. Wish you were here but your memories are always going to be.

I think and pray with Doug every trip I take to work on the water. I ask that he guide me safely on the water that day and that he and so many others are free from pain, are happy, and at peace.

I had the distinct pleasure of watching Captain Doug work the water during his days as the Fish N' Chip Captain. My lasting memory will be of a guy who took his vocation seriously, but never took himself too seriously. He never lost sight of the fact that this is fun. The joy of pursuing and catching fish, and safely releasing them, was a pleasure he passed along. My thoughts are with those who knew him best... his family and close friends. Jeff Tewksbury Fox 13

He never lost sight of the fact that his chosen passion and purpose was to pass along the exhilaration and sheer joy of bringing a fish to the boat long enough to appreciate the beauty of nature, then to safely release the fish so...

A Memorial service will be held for my brother, Captain Doug Hemmer, on Wednesday, June 29th at 7:00 at Gators on the Pass on Treasure Island. This is open to all of his friends and the fishing community as well. Come help us celebrate Doug's life.

I have known Doug for about 20 yrs and he was so much fun just to be around.I asked him to do seminars for different stores I worked at and also my own store Tightlines Tackle. His talks were some of the most knowledgable and fun seminars I ever remember.I don't think Doug ever turned me down once.Richard Seward and I did a inshore flats and grouper trolling Fish and Chips segment and it was so much fun.I will never forget the trolling part because we didn't go 50 yards and we hit a huge...
