Douglas Laton Hoeft

I thought of Mr Hoeft today. He was my high school teacher at Elgin High. A great teacher and he really cared for his students. I graduated 1970. God bless his family

I just thought about Mr. Hoeft the other day. I was thinking of how he had instilled the love of history in me. He was the best teacher I ever had. I was in his history class at Elgin high school in 1966. He would tell such funny and interesting antidotes. I can still picture him today. Wishing I could have shared this with him before he passed.

I don't know you, Libby, or any of your children, yet I knew your husband many years ago. I went to Elgin High School, 1964-1967, and was fortunate enough to have him as my teacher (Social Studies, I believe).

Since it's been over 35 years now, I can honestly say I only remember about 3 of my teachers. Your husband/father would be first on my list. As others have said, he was always ready with a joke and a smile. His stories about his friend, John Davidson, who was just...

Gary and I are so very saddened by the loss of Doug. We wanted you to know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. He was a special person with such commitment.

Doug, I know you're in a very fine place now. God will surely bless you. You are remembered for all you have done. Special thanks for your support and work in the areas of youth education, homelessness, and the needs of our senior community. Your endeavors will live on. Prayers and strength to your family.
