Not sure what to say?

A wonderful funeral in Olin for Doug. He will be sorely missed by so many. Since we may never really recover, hoping we all can "find a place to put this loss", as a Dutch friend said.

Doug was the first person Ron and I met when we moved to Pleasant Hill. Whenever we needed help, Doug was there. Ron and I had the pleasure to eat with Doug on many occasions, he was the kindest guy we have ever met. We are in shock about this sad news. Doug was a great friend that we will never forget.

This is a tremendous loss for Iowa. Thank you for all you did to protect and speak for Iowa's cultural resources, Doug.

Doug was the first person suggest CRM work. I will be ever grateful. He was a delight to know.

I was Doug's teacher in Fourth Grade at Olin. Every teacher would love to have a classroom of students like Doug. However, Doug didn't need "teaching" -- students like Doug just need to be presented with suggestions. I am deeply saddened by his loss.

Doug was a delight to work with, always helpful and pleasant. He made an impact on the treasures and archeology in Iowa's Loess Hills.

Can't believe you're gone. Who am I going to hassle when I come to DM? Your presence and work at SHSI was inspiring and passionate. And, I will always remember your dedication and ethics. May God surround your family and friends with comfort and peace. You will be missed.
Godspeed,
K C
