Doug Jorgenson, 64, of Redmond, Oregon passed away on May 15, 2013 as a result of a short battle with liver cancer. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the oldest son of Louise Messick Jorgenson and Warren George Jorgenson. He graduated from Bell High School, Bell, CA; Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, OR in 1978 and with honors from Portland State University, Portland, OR in 1979. Doug was very committed to his country serving 8 years in the US Army which included 3 combat tours in Vietnam and 4 years in the Oregon National Guard. His awards include the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Doug was an avid elk and deer hunter, loved fishing, especially for salmon, trout and sturgeon, and loved duck and pheasant hunting, metal detecting and gold panning as well. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Trish Jorgenson; sons Tom Jorgenson (Brenda) of Keizer, Oregon; Vince Anderson (Laura) of Gresham, OR; daughters Lisa Stearns of Redmond, OR; Rikki Jones (John) of Redmond, OR and Joana Gamboa (Joe) of Santa Ana, CA. His siblings surviving him are Larry Jorgenson (Karon) of Cypress, CA; Gary Jorgenson of Gladstone, OR; Loren Jorgenson (Vicki) of Omaha, NE and Lorraine Peterson (Tom) or Archdale, NC. Also surviving him is his father Warren G. Jorgenson of Pebble Beach, CA; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and his beloved dogs Sassi, Lollipop and Riley as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Louise M. Jorgenson and son-in-law Michael L. Stearns. His family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for may years of excellent medical care to Dr. Edward Conrad of Lake Oswego, OR; Dr. Melanie Doak, Portland Oregon VA Hospital and Dr. Bradford Dorsay of the Bend Oregon VA Clinic; and to the staff of Hospice House for their wonderful care and compassion during his final illness. Also, much appreciation to Jeff and his staff at the Redmond Shari’s, one of Doug’s favorite places to go. Services and interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR at 2:30pm on June 3, 2013.
