Professor Kahn was a titan, pure and simple. He was the best professor and the most practical intellectual that anyone will ever meet. May his memory be a blessing.

That booming laugh! I instantly remembered it when I read the warm and wonderful tribute to Doug Kahn. He was a colleague at AA Greenhills School for a time where he taught an outstanding class called "Legal Process." The "teacher's lounge" at Greenhills was much more spirited and lively with Doug there--I remember several conversations with him about his work, Michigan football and chess. He was a true teacher in all ways. My consolations to the Kahn family.

Condolences from the Tallahassee Duplicate Bridge Club on your family's loss. I shared Doug's obituary on our club Facebook page and many of our members were saddened by the news. Doug always was so pleasant at the bridge table. I never saw him take any of it too seriously, as he seemed to think the people at the table were more important than the result. We will miss him.

We knew Doug from a Faculty Bridge Group when we were fairly new to Ann Arbor. We met at homes in the neighborhood of Mary and Doug and often did non-bridge-related get togethers with the neighborhood group. Doug was always fun and interesting and miles ahead of the rest of us in his bridge acumen.

So sorry to learn of Doug's passing. Although not exceptionally tall, he was a giant of a man.

I was a UM law student from 66-69. I hated tax and loved Doug. He invited me to work on a pro bono criminal appeal that ended up changing the trajectory of a deserving young man´s life. Later when I became a judge he agreed to accept my appointment as a mediator in a very high profile case. We became life long friends and stayed in touch for over 50 years. We last got together with a few of my 1969 classmates at Paesano´s a couple years ago. At over 80, he was still the captivating,...
