I never had the good fortune to meet this great man, but, as a proud alumnus of the same university, I am delighted to learn from the Lansing State Journal that he is a graduate of Michigan State University.

Doug and Mary were wonderful people. Doug's collection of political memorabilia is a sight to behold, and the Kelleys were so kind to invite groups of us in from time to time to learn from and enjoy it. Democratic party meetings won't be the same without Doug. He was kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making the world a better place. He was a great man, and will be missed by our community.

As a neighbor of Doug and Mary Kelley, I have many fond memories of them, from holiday picnics and neighborhood parties to Democratic party activities . I loved visiting the building he built for his memorabilia which he was generous in sharing. Recently we did meet Ellen Finn Kelley and enjoyed seeing them at the Grotto. With all his accomplishments, he was still a very friendly and down-to-earth person.

I met Doug a few times through the local Democrats, and had a chance to tour his political museum. He made a positive impact on so many. He was "fired up, ready to go" to do some good in this world!
