recently while vacationing in Costa Rica I ran into a former Phi Sig fraternity brother who told me the sad news about Doug's passing. I was Doug's freshman dorm RA and "sponsored" him into the Phi Sig frat...he was the type of man that was smart, fun, and very interested in his friends. In those days he had a strong love of Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. I'm upset by his untimely passing and wish his family every sympathy. God bless his family and friends!
When I return home to St. Charles, IL I will try to send a photo (s) of Doug that I believe I still have of him age 19/20 at a Whitewater Lake summer party. Robert L. (Brownie) Brown
PS: Jim Prange was the fraternity brother (who told him about Doug) that I ran into in a sports bar in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica we hadn't seen each other in 40 years!

Doug was one of my earliest friends. I played softball with Doug at the 81st St. grade school in Milwaukee, and with Doug pitching, we won a championship in 1958. Just a wonderful person.

The memorial service was beautiful, with all of the pictures capturing Doug’s spirit and love for life. Kyle and Candi, your father was so proud of you, and I always loved hearing about your latest accomplishments, during our 7 am Metra rides. It’s still hard to believe that someone so dear to all of us has been taken. His wonderful spirit will live on forever in our memories. We are thankful that we were blessed with so many good times together.

The passing of Doug Lauret is shocking. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.
As an undergrad at Whitewater in the late 70's, I was the Phi Sig President when Doug was our Aluni Advisor. His "zest for life" was unmistakeable. He acted as a positive role model to all undergrads and his spirit was ageless. He had a passion for living life, yet a focus for HELPING others. I am blessed to have known him...and I'm a better man because of his influence on me.
My prayers are with his family, I'm convinced HIS spirit will live on..
Respectfully, Greg Rusteberg, 20580 Landmark Ln Barrington, Il 60010

Carol, Kyle and Candi,
I met Doug through our mutual interests of cub scouts and little league baseball.
The little league years are my favorite memories of Doug. We spent a lot of Saturday mornings together getting the fields ready for play, coaching teams, rebuilding the concession stand after the fire, having a few brews after the games.
I will also miss our "gambling junkets" to the local casinos.

I'll always remember Doug for his generosity and gentle spirit. Doug was generous with his time and his money. He understood Jesus' words, "to whom much has been given, much will be expected..". Doug also knew what it meant to be present. Some of us are here, but we are not always present. Doug noticed what needed to be done, and if it were in his power to do it, he did, even serving cold watermelon on a hot day. I wish I knew you longer, Doug. Someday I will.

Carol, Kyle, Natasha and Candi, words cannot describe how we feel but know that Doug has truely left his mark in this world and has filled your lives as well as many others with so many wonderful memories. We will always remember his smiling face as he conducted his den meetings and how he influenced many young boys of Pack 25. He was that smiling easy going umpire at our little league games who will continue to watch over all of today's and future players as our angel behind the plate. And of course we remember Doug giving of his time to always lend us a hand in legal matters. Today we celebrate his life and we know that he will greet us some day with that same smile as we join his team in heaven.

Dear Lauret Family,
I was very sad to hear of your loss. I only knew Doug professionally and was always on the "other" side of cases we had together, but I always found him to be an excellent lawyer and more importantly, a good a decent man to work with. Please accept my condolences.
