We have lost a giant of a man.

Doug was one of my favorite coworkers in the Genealogy & Local History Department. He was an amazing librarian - talented, knowledgeable, and loved sharing what he knew (which was a lot!) without making you feel stupid. He always brought in sweets for the department on his Saturday shifts. Once he learned I was vegan (and couldn’t eat said sweets), he started bringing in fruit on Saturdays, too. Doug was one of my favorite co-workers in the Genealogy & Local History Department. Even after I left that department and was working down in the Popular Library, he and I would get together to chat, talk about his geese, and talk about genealogy and local history, which were passions of both of ours. In the years since his retirement, I'd often think about him and wonder what he'd think about this or that. I was just told this morning about his passing and it came as such a shock. The world...
