Not sure what to say?

Hearing about Doug's passing stung me. Although I was not close with him, I did have the pleasure of jamming with him as well as seeing his amazing and creative drumming live. What I remember most about Doug was his genuine kindness. Even though his talent behind the kit certainly warranted it, he was never arrogant or boisterous. He truly had a golden heart. My deepest sympathy to the Meis family and all of Doug's friends and band mates.

Ron and Gail - I was so saddened to learn of Doug's passing. My heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy go out to you, Dave and Scott. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Cathy

Jen, family and friends:
We were so deeply saddened by your recent loss. Although we don't know you personally, we have felt deep sadness for you and your loved ones since the day we heard about Doug's tragedy. Our daughter Lori (Kyle's girlfriend) had only wonderful things to say about you Jen, and of course Doug. After reading all of the guest book write-ins, we feel like NOT knowing Doug was a misfortune for us. Please know that you are in our hearts and in our thoughts daily. We...

Doug was a wonderful friend and part of my time at Oak Harbor High School. Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, sailling, golfing, and "enduring" Dixieland Jazz festivals to support him will always be fond memories! It's been years, but the kind of person he was is a person I'll always remember with fondness. My love to his family--(Scott, my Scott is thinking of you), Mrs. Meis--you were always so good to me, I have you and your family in my prayers. Our hearts are heavy. My family and I express our...

My condolences to Doug's family and friends. As the mother of a fellow 1998 IWU graduate, I attended many of the concerts at IWU with my late husband. We greatly enjoyed Doug's solos and his contributions to the various musical groups. A life with such promise was tragically cut short.
