Not sure what to say?

Please know that I really wanted to attend Doug Merkle's memorial. He was a good friend and engineer that I admired greatly. He "conscripted" me into being the Florida Engineering Society (FES) Gulf Coast Chapter president when I met him at Kiwanis having just moved back to town. His strong support of that organization kept it going when it was faltering. Doug was instrumental for many years as the emcee for the MathCounts competition hosted by FES. That FES is still active today and...

Doug was a great influence on my life, he will be missed.

Doug was always a pleasure to spend time with and still missed until this day. Rest In Peace dear Kiwanis friend!

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Drew and his family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace. Drew, please know that our thoughts are with you.

Had a great time working with you in Scouts, Doug. Rest in peace.

Heartfelt prayers for peace at this time of sadness knowing that your loved one is not suffering. May God comfort all.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Merkle family at this time of great sorrow. And thank you to him for his service. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to all the family.
Even though I did not know him personally ,I feel I knew him through Drew. He was a brave man and put up with a lot. May he RIP.

We were very saddened to learn of Doug's death. As a fellow engineering officer I had the opportunity to interface with him on occasion and found him to be a very brilliant engineer. I also had the opportunity to mentor some of the young engineers who were students of his and they spoke highly of Doug as a professor. We send our condolences to the families and know that his services to the Scouting community will be greatly missed.
