Not sure what to say?

I had Mr. Oster at Chalk Hill Middle School. I remember I´m being so enthusiastic and motivating, and he played the Moody Blues so we could understand the meaning of the lyrics. He was always supportive, and wrote me the nicest note in my yearbook where he said at the end `... above all, believe in YOURSELF!´ I was thinking about him and looked him up and I´m so sorry to hear he passed away. He was my favorite teacher and brought so much joy to that class. His vests and moustache and...

To Helen, Eric and Amy,
My deepest sympathies to each of you in your time of sorrow. Doug was a regular "West Jackson neighborhood" walker, always with a good word and a smile. Even though it has been a long time since I've seen him, it seems like yesterday.
I know he will be fondly remembered, and deeply missed.

Our deepest sympathy go out to the Oster Family...I taught with Doug at Chalk Hill and he was a great person and teacher. I'll always remember his laughter & enthusiasm. Our prayers go out to all.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Doug. We grew up together in F'dale, attended school, and worked one summer at Good Humor. My sympathy to his Mom and Family. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

My deepest sympathy and prayers are sent to the Oster Family. May the memories of Doug help you during this difficult time. May God watch over you all. Love, Donna

Doug teaching at Rogers Park

I was so saddened to read my favorite teacher in Chalk Hill passed away. I had Mr. Oster for 2 years back in '76 and '77. One time in class he played a Moody Blues song as part of an assignment, and to this day when I hear it, I think of him. He was a great teacher and person. My thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to his family and friends.

Dear Erik, Amy and Family,
I was saddened to hear about the death of your father.I remember him and you from your Black Rock Little League days. Take Care and be strong in your days of sorrow.

So sorry to read the news today. Although it's been 28 years, I still recall what a wonderful teacher and friend Mr. Oster was during his tenure at Chalk Hill Middle School. There are some teachers you just never forget.... and he certainly is one. My deepest sympathy to his family.
