Douglas Rutledge Payne

I'll always cherish my memories of Mr. Payne; he was an exceptionally kind, jovial, and gracious man.

In the late 1990’s, I met Mr. Payne through his daughter Cathy, my closest friend. Once introduced, he always opened his home and kitchen to me when Cathy and I would visit him. My name is Dave Adams.In 1970 I took a sales job with the Nunn Bush Shoe Co.That was my introduction to Doug,Ernie Pugh,and James Williams,mgr.I recall Doug training me and stating,"always be kind to the customer".I too have been in sales my entire life and I have had the liberty of training many men and women in sales.To this day I teach ALL sales people,"always be kind to the customer".Doug's words continue to be passed forward.Thank you Doug!
