Not sure what to say?

1990 recipient of the expert application of a five way bypass surgery at the hands of Dr. Payne. I am so sorry to learn of his passing!

Dr. Payne is surely an angel in heaven watching over us. He was a gifted surgeon who saved my daughter´s life.

I was so sorry to learn of Dr. Payne´s recent death. I worked as an anesthesiologist on many cases at NEMC with him as the operating surgeon in the late 1980s, and he was an excellent mentor to my brother who trained under him in 1989-91. He was easy to work with and always professional. I felt the patient was in excellent hands when in his care. My deepest condolences to your family. Susan Riggs Runge MD

Dear Geri, I'm so sorry to receive this news about Doug. He was a good and kind neighbour at Temagami. We treasure the trails that he cut through the woods.

Dr. Payne saved my daughter when he performed a miracle heart surgery July 12, 1989. My daughter staci was only 4 pounds and he said she was the smallest baby at the time he´d operated on. God bless his soul. He´s in heaven now. Prayers to the Payne family. With love from the Feeney Family

Doug was a thoughtful and gentle person, a true gentleman. My sympathy to Geri, no one could have done more to assure Doug had the best of care

Dr. Payne was Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New England Medical Center when I became a Physician Assistant in October of 1993. He was the consummate gentleman surgeon. He taught me so much about the human heart, and was deft at operating "around" my fumbling attempts at assisting him. He was kind and nopatient; supremely skilled and dedicated to his patients and colleagues. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to Geri.
