Douglas C. Phipps MT. PLEASANT - Douglas C. Phipps of Mount Pleasant, SC formerly of Akron, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at East Cooper Regional Medical Center unexpectedly. He was born August 31, 1942 to Edgar and Alice Malson Phipps in Akron, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sally Faye Chance Phipps, two sons, Paul Douglas Phipps, Edward Lee (Paige) Phipps, one daughter, Tina Thomas (Laurent) Britton, eight grandchildren, Kylie Phipps, Ashley Phipps, Edward L Phipps, II, Emmerie Phipps, James Thomas Phipps, Austin Ray Thomas, Bryar Douglas Thomas and Lauren Britton all of Mount Pleasant. Survived by one brother Ralph E. (Cindy) Phipps and two sisters Martha J. Kunkler & Doralyn Wells. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Doug worked For AC&Y Railroad and retired from Mount Pleasant Waterworks after 22 years of service. His leisure time was spent enjoying his family, coaching Little League baseball, and going to Christ Our King Church. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas C. Phipps are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Christ Our King Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be private. The family will receive fiends on Monday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Memorial contributions may be made to either Christ Our King Catholic Church 1149 Russell Dr., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or to the American Red Cross, 5290 Rivers Ave. N. Charleston, SC 29406.
