Douglas Harold Ransom

Doug was my scout leader and I still remember him as one of the good ones who fostered a love of the outdoors and was willing to put up with an obnoxious bunch of boys hiking up the white mountains. I remember he and his son Jim created a great camping manual for the troop, he took us on a tour of the Republican, you could tell he really loved his job and he genuinely cared about the kids he was working with. I am sorry to hear he is gone.

As my Scout leader, Doug had such an impact on my life, in sparking my lifelong love of the outdoors and providing me with the skills to explore amazing places, and in encouraging me to push myself to be a better person. He cared for us deeply, and it made a real difference in our lives.

I worked several years with Doug when he worked as a linotype machinist, and then later when he became a computer technician. He was a nice man who was easy to get along with. I'm sorry for his family's loss.
