Douglas Allan Raymer, 69, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017.He was married for 41 years and preceded in death by the love of his life Dr. Mary Raymer. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his three children, Rebecca Vellier (Mike), Jennifer Garrison (Shawn), Daniel Raymer (Vicky), his five grandchildren; Kendall(Christopher), Hannah, Owen, Ryan, Tyler and his great grandson, Ezra. He is also survived by his three siblings, Gerald (Pat), Terry (Pam), and Ladine (Loyd) Dawkins. 

Doug was a member of the Army National Guard, a career mechanic and business owner. He is the Son of Douglas and Vera Raymer of Chadron, Nebraska. He was a loving and supportive father and grandfather who loved to fish, hunt, camp, boat, and had a love of all animals, especially his dog Roux. 

Interment will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, LA 70460 at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be given to the Louisiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 2605 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121.

Doug Raymer was a Devoted husband and father. He loved and cherished is wife and children in both words and actions. His priority was his family. It is a difficult and sad time, but he is now with the love of his life.
Thank you Doug for being a great father in law.

Three years ago Doug and Mary stopped for a short visit over Labor Day weekend. It was the best weekend - Mary and I had a walking tour of the University campus, visited "Residence Hall" where we met in the summer of 1967, took in a McNeese State/Husker football game and much visiting. We didn't want to be selfish that Saturday evening so we took Doug to Brother Sebastian's in Omaha for a Nebraska steak dinner. We visited and laughed. Did a little shopping and drank some wine. He was a sweet loveable man. Got to talk with him many times. My pray are with the family. I'm here if you need me. Heaven has another angle. Fly high you will be missed by many.
