Although I haven't kept in touch with him in recent years, Doug was one of my best friends, back in the days when we taught seminary together in Star Valley. Not only did I enjoy being his colleague on the seminary faculty, but we did a fair amount of hunting and fishing together. He loved the outdoors, and you could ask him almost any question about hunting rifles, and he knew the answer. He was always optimistic, had a bright outlook on life, and I thoroughly enjoyed his friendship. ...
