Not sure what to say?

My prayers go out to the Ruiz family. I know it's been a long time since we have seen each other, but you're all still like family to me. As I read all the entries in this guest book from all of "Popie's" true friends, it reminds me of how funny of a guy he was. That guy could never hurt a fly. He was loved by so many and had such a great sense of humor. I remember it like yesterday (when we were all in high school.) Me, Popie, Virginia, Steve L., Lupe and Sally used to all hang out and be...

To my "Popie", You will always be in my heart and soul...we became the best of friends and I knew you only like momma did. We could talk about anything. The hug I got monday night is priceless! We are still going on our trip to the ocean because I know even if I can't see you, you are still by my side. I will never forget all the trips, all the food, all the love, all the help, all the rides...even though I drove more...all the memories. I will share my most recent photos with momma and...

Douglas & Mary my heart goes out to you and your family, Popie was a one in a million, he will be greatly missed but not forgotten... Popie keep up the laughter, till we meet again love you, Lou

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I ALWAYS REMEMBER THE IMPACT THAT DOUGLAS HAD IN MY LIFE SINCE 1977 WHEN WE MET AT LATHROP SCHOOL. WE HAD JUST BEGUN OUR FIRST YEAR OF JUNIOR HIGH AND WE WERE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A LONG JOURNEY OF LASTING FRIENDSHIP FULL OF LAUGHS, THRILLS AND JOY.
WE HAVEN'T SPOKEN IN MANY YEARS BUT I WILL TRULY MISS HIS "BUBBA" JOKES AND HOW GOOD HIS SENSE OF HUMOR MADE ME FEEL.
MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO MARY, DOUGLAS, ERNIE AND THE REST OF THE RUIZ FAMILY. MAY GOD BLESS YOU IN THIS...

When I think of Popie I think laughter....my best times as I was growing up were with him...sometimes we would go somewhere and just sit and watch people and he would have a funny story about each person. I considered him one of my best friends growing up....when I see you in Heaven Popie you better have a good joke for me.

There is an old saying that God only takes the good ones and that certainly holds true in this case. Even though I haven't seen Popie in a long time, I will NEVER forget the times of non-stop laughter and just hanging out and having a great time. It didn't matter how down I was because he always managed to cheer me up and make me feel better. He will always be a fond memory in my heart and my prayers go out to his family. God Bless You!

To the Ruiz Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you all, may the prayers of those who care help ease the pain you’re going through. And may all the wonderful memories of Douglas bring serenity to your family.

~Forever Friends~

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend; someone who changes your life just by being part of it. I’ve considered Douglas “Popie” as someone that was truly a best friend of mine. He was like my brother that...

It was to my great sadness to hear about the loss of Douglas, I’ve been very fortunate to have become his good friend and compa.
