Douglas Schoen

Douglas was a lifelong friend of mine. I met him on a train in Canada, when he was taking Jeffrey on a trip and I was returning from Quebec. Although he lived in the US and I lived in Canada, we maintained our friendship for over 50 years. Whenever I needed him for emotional support, he was always there. My heart is still sore with him gone. I miss him very much. He was such a loyal friend.

Douglas and I met when I was 17 on a train trip across Canada. We became life-long friends in spite of living in two different countries. Any time I had any difficulty in life, Douglas was there to support me. I witnessed time and again, his generosity, and his love of culture. I am incredibly sad to know I have lost this friend.

Virginia Lake-he is irreplaceable.

I met both Douglas and how wife, Janna through mutual friends and both were such loving, warm and fun people. I learned a lot about vino through them. I was sad when Janna passed, and although I haven´t seen him in several years, equally sad to hear about Douglas. Until reading this obituary I had no idea of the personal losses he overcame. Great people! Gone too soon.

His father was my doctor, and his brother was a good friend in school. So sorry to hear of his passing.
