Not sure what to say?

I just saw this today, when I was thinking about an old anthropology film I saw numerous times...and then thought, that must have been because of my 4th grade Sunday School teacher, whom we called "Uncle Doug"! So I googled his name and found this. Fond memories from Lexington, KY...My parents (Eldon and Martha Smith) used to go dancing at Carnahan/Spindletop with Nita and Doug. Great memories of you both, and so sorry to find you have lost him.He is remembered..even by people who knew him...

RIP. I first met Doug at a lecture he gave at La Fonda in 1969 when i was 11. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps.

May Douglas W. Schwartz soul rest in peace. I will always remember the days when he would visit our historical and traditional community of La Cieneguilla. We would share stories of the ancient and sacred places of the Pueblo site circa. 12th Century) that surrounded the Capilla de San Antonio (cira. 1820. Dr. Schwartz was a good man and taught me a lot about how to be a good steward and how to preserve and protect our sacred cultural sites in my community. Mil Gracias! I will light a candle...

Doug was a mentor to me. When I joined the Sec. of Interior's Advisory Board on National Parks and Monuments, he was the Chairman of the Board. I was young and so green and he helped me to learn the ropes. The Sec. sent the two of us to float the Grand Canyon to be his eyes and report back to him. This week in the canyon with Doug was a dear experience that I shall never forget. I learned so much and left with a friend. He will be missed by so many, but his memory will live on..
