When I was growing up, Doug lived 2 house's away from me on Maplewood St. Ann Arbor. I didn't know him well as he was 7 years older then myself, but I do remember him being a very nice guy and even helping us shovel our drive during one huge snow fall when we had gotten plowed in. All my best to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Doug at the University of Michigan where we cooked together. He was a sincerely kind person. I worked side by side with him for 5 years and I can honestly say I never saw him angry. He was a kind, gentle soul, always treating others around him with respect and consideration.
