Douglas L. Valenti Sr.

Douglas passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Douglas was a resident of Palatka, Florida at the time of his passing. He was a 1964 graduate of Crescent City High School and graduated from St. Johns River Junior College in 1966. Following his graduation from St. Johns Doug attended the University of Florida for one semester and resumed his studies at the University of Florida graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1973. He joining the United States Army. His duty stations extended as far as South Vietnam where he was assigned to the C Battery 3319th Artillery 173rd Airborne Brigade. In 1970 Doug was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service along with other campaign and unit awards. He was married to Maudie. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 19 2016 at St. Monica Catholic Church with Father Ignatious Plathanum as officiant. Burial with military honors will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 â 7:00 pm on Monday July 18 2016 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
