Not sure what to say?

I heard of Mr. Wilhelm's passing just today. I'm doing arts advocacy work in the Senate, and realized how much of my confidence in approaching Senator's offices remains rooted in the deeply humanistic view of government he taught his students. I wanted to reach out with a thanks; I'll still pass them on here, to whoever may see them. Mr. Wilhelm was a a gift, and I'm deeply grateful to have known him for whatever time I did.

So sad to hear about the passing of the beloved Mr. Wilhelm. He was my 7th grade Humanities/History teacher at Hamilton. It's been 22 years since I last spoke to him, but he pops into my mind every so often and I look him up to see if he's still teaching. I thought of him a few moments ago and was so sad to find out he's passed. Though our relationship was brief, his kindness and passion left a lasting impact on me and he will be missed. I feel so blessed to have known him, if only for a...

Mr. Wilhelm was the best social studies teacher I had. I loved his class. He inspired me to become a middle school history teacher. When I came back from undergrad to visit him at Hamilton, he gave me great advice as I embarked on my teaching career.

I could say a million nice things about Doug, but what I will always think of is his smile and genuine friendliness. Whether it was over a good beer, a poor golf shot or solving the worlds problems it was a true pleasure to have known Doug.

Doug will be sorely missed. All around great guy. My condolences to Rita & Tommy. Love, Uncle Mike

How do I put into words my love and loss for Doug. Growing up together Doug always kept things fun and adventurous. He was a great role model as I was the younger of three. My memories of our fun times, our close times and sometimes just our chats on the phone are wonderful. Doug was always the trailblazer for my sister and I. He had a love for life and lived life to his fullest when we were younger. He had great friends and friendships. Doug was always there for Debbie and I no matter what!...

Dear Rita, Thomas and the Wilhelm family- I am writing to express my deepest condolences upon hearing of the passing of Doug. I was on the 8th grade team when Doug was at Hamilton. He was an anchor to us all, an excellent leader, so kind and caring, always positive and a treasure to have in one’s life. I recall his classroom was a wonderful environment in terms of peace and challenge. His Evening of Eminence was one of the highlights of the academic year and I continue to use the idea of...

Mr. Wilhelm was one of the best teachers I ever had. He was incredibly kind, enthusiastic, and patient. In the gentlest and most compassionate way, Mr. Wilhelm helped teach me that sometimes relationships are more important than perfectionism. I am so grateful to have had Mr. Wilhelm as a teacher— he will be missed.
