God speed Dowling. You will be greatly missed by everyone who's life you have ever been in. Rest easy.

Speed was married to my cousin Betty for many years. I will always love him for the way he embraced my kids and me. My parents, Chester and Harriet Newton, were very fond of him too. Speed was intellectual, yet also adventurous, and he liked to pull others into his adventures. I will miss him.

Darling Dowling was my name for our Dowling. I say ours for he belonged to the wind, to the peoples everywhere his great mind took him, in the blink of an eye he would be involved in the direction of an instant worldly thought. Truly a Pied Piper, a flute almost always near by to lead children on a musical adventure, following happily his form, coaxing their efforts of mastering the skill of life in the moment, laughter, no pressure to be perfect, accepting their newness to the letter,...

I have fond memories of him sharing time on the rivers and hiking, his knowledge of writing, music, and sense of humor.
