Not sure what to say?

I am saddened to see this on FB. CVN -70 was my first command after A-school & I was not happy because I was the only one in my class to get ships company. Captain Borchers made that ship my best command even when I look back on 13+ years of service. He did say "do just one good thing today". I was older as a new recruit but I still learned a lot about myself and my shipmates. RIP Sir

He was my skipper onboard the USS Carl Vinson. Fair and straight forward to the crew.

He was my very first CO onboard Carl Vinson CVN-70. He changed the nickname for "Battlestar" to "Gold Eagle" which they still use today. I remember every time he got done with announcements he´d say "pick one thing you do every day, and do it just a little better today". I told my sailors that for the rest of my 20 years until I retired then have told my kids that. He never knew how much he influenced my life. God Speed Skipper; we have the watch!

Fair winds and following seas. The Skipper kept us on our toes during the last Cold War cruises on the USS Carl Vinson with PacEx '89 and WestPac '90. He kept reminding us to make things better each day.

He was exceptional American and individual. Have followed his advice given to thousands of Officers, Aviators and Sailors on the 1MC every night. "Try to improve on one small thing every day". Onboard the aircraft carrier USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70) "VIS PER MARE" Strength From The Sea.
