Doyle “Wayne” Stapleton, age 69 of Nickelsville, VA passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.  He was the son of the late Alfred E. and Virginia Muriel Stapleton.  


Wayne retired from Kingsport Press.  He was kind to everyone and lived life to the fullest.


Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emilee Hazlett.


Surviving is his daughter, Jackie Meade; grandchildren, Tyler Hazlett (Gracen) and Haylee Hazlett; great-granddaughter, Lennon Hazlett; sisters, Nancy Odle, Shirley McConnell (Sam) and Judy Stapleton; brothers, Jack Stapleton (Janice) and Gary Stapleton; several nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home with funeral service at 3:00 PM in the chapel.  Pastor P.J. Johnson will be officiating.  The family will also receive friends at the home of his daughter following the graveside service.   


Graveside service will follow at Elliott Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.


The family would like to extend special thanks to Camron Estepp and Luke Finch for their friendship among many others he enjoyed spending time with.
