Dr. Ian Kenneth Ross

I joined Ian's lab as a callow faced twenty-something, weary from the long flight from London to Los Angeles, almost exactly thirty years ago. Ian became a mentor to me and I still carry many of the lessons that I learned in his lab. Both Ian and Muriel were very generous too. On my first Christmas away from my family, they made an extra effort to make it a special occasion. They even picked out an Ansel Adams calendar for my wall, and I have bought one for myself every year since. Ian...

Ian was a wonderful and generous man. I had the privilege of working with him for many years as his trainer. I will miss him. My condolences go out to Muriel and his family .

Ian played a unique and critically important role in my effort to be tenured at UCSB. I honor him for his ethics and his knowledge.
