Celebrating the Life of Dr. JoAnn McCleod

               April 15, 1967 - July 17, 2024

On Wednesday, July 17th at Riverside Reginal Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia God called home our beloved sister, cousin, godmother, and friend: JoAnn McCleod. JoAnn was born on April 15, 1967 in Germany to the late Whit and Maggie Lee McCleod. She received her formal education in Hampton City School System. She later received her Doctorate from National University in Business Administration.

JoAnn was an employee of Regent University in Virginia Beach Virginia, where she worked as an Administrative Advisor. She was involved in numerous activities, hobbies, and interest which included QVC (sales), Hampton City Schools System, Newport News Public Schools, and Virginia Kids Eat Free (non-profit USDA feeding program).

JoAnn was an active member of New Life Church, where she sang in the Mass Choir, Cornerstone Assembly of God Church; and Devine Concept Group. She affectionately was on the praise team of each ministry. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures from chatting with family and friends to her uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Ann Brown, Mary (Gloria) McCleod, and Cipriano McCleod, and Demetrious Brown.

Left to cherish her memories are one sibling, Clifford Brown of Huntsville, Alabama, a niece, Demetria Brown of Florida, five immediate family members; Marie Rogers, Fredric Woods, Renee Cox of Covington Georgia, and Fitzgerald Woods of Anchorage Alaska; "Sister-like" friends, Jacqueline Lipford-Rainey (Theodore), Shelia Johnson, Carmen Barnette, Tracey Council (Ryan), Markita Van De Riet, Cyndi Owens, six Godchildren, Andre Christian, Theodore S. Rainey, Hapte Rainey, Zion Rainey, Tiras Council, and Zechariah Council. and a host of relatives and friends, and a special little fellow, John-John also held a special place in JoAnn's heart.

JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will forever be carried in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Joann IS a woman of God whose light shined everywhere she went. She was our first Web Designer at New Life Church. We quickly realized JoAnn set a standard for perfection.
