Condolences to Dr Segreti's family. Even in high school ,at Cathedral it was obvious that John was incredibly intelligent and kind. He was a quiet light, but you knew there was this genius walking in those halls. Through his work, many lives were saved. May he be welcomed into heaven. Classmate 1972 Cathedral High.

As a 3rd year medical student, I did an infectious disease rotation at Rush in 1997, just as medications were developed and made available to treat HIV/AIDS. Dr. Segreti was an inspiration and role model for his treament of all of our patients. Since then, I have always remembered his calm demeanor, and kindness. He will be missed.

I was a fellow with Dr. Segreti from 2002-2004. He was so well-respected. Dignified, calm, good-humored and smart! 20 years out of practice, I truly rely on knowledge gained from him regularly to this day, especially related to prosthetic joint infections and endocarditis. I'm so grateful to have to have had the opportunity to train with him.

I had the honor to work with John for 19 years in Infection Control at Rush University Medical Center and most recently at Rush Oak Park Hospital. He will be remembered for his great caring to his patients, his expertise in medicine and infectious diseases and his contribution to science. He taught me so much and will miss him as a resource and great physician. My sympathies to his family.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. I’m so sorry for your lost. Worked with him for many years at Rush. Will miss talking with him about football and his favorite baseball team the White Sox. Our infection prevention and control bi-monthly meeting won’t be the same. May God bless your family!

The most understated and humble physician I have met. John will be the forever dance partner to my friend Jeanne and part of an incredible, loving Italian family. Much love to Jeanne and the entire Segretti family. Your legacy is immense and your grandkids and kids are so lucky to have you as their guide.
