Not sure what to say?

Dr. Hackett was my teacher at Wheaton College. I recently rediscovered his book "Problems and Perspetives in the Philosophy of Religion." I thought I had lost this book and was delighted to discover it again. I'm writing this at 72 years old. I had his class more than 50 years ago. I still remember his love and passion for teaching. The fun he had with such serious questions of truth still inspires me. His love for the pursuit of truth continues on in me and I am grateful. Dale C. Godby, PhD...

I attended Trinity for one year in 90-91 and enjoyed three classes with one of the most interesting persons I have ever met. I am thankful I had that opportunity and have hope to see him again through the saving sacrifice of Jesus.

Dr. Hackett was by far the most interesting, most remarkable, and yes, the most entertaining and witty professor I had at Louisiana College. I remember his definition of Solipsism:

"I'm the only pebble on the beach
and there is no beach."

No doubt there was never another pebble on the beach quite like him!

Dear Joan and other family members:

My deepest sympathies on the passing of Stu. My wife Dottie brought it to my notice yesterday. I was a student of his in the early 80's at TEDS and it was an experience I have never forgotten. He was one of the clearest thinkers I ever encountered and his presentation and critique of David Hume's ideas really turned me into a philosophy major at TEDS. He was never so serious, however, as to exclude humor from class--there was always plenty of...

Dear Joan and family,

It has been many years since we have seen each other. I visited you in Glen Ellyn back around 1989, I believe. I was a student of Stu's at TEDS and took just about every class of his I could.
It was his influence which moved me to follow a course of preparation to be a professor of apologetics and philosophy of religion. My wife and I serve under Greater Europe Mission at Tyndale Theological Seminary in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a school started by GEM...

David,
While searching the Internet for old friends, I came upon your father's obituary. I remember him from the early 1970's. He was a clever and interesting person, and I feel honored to have known him even as little as I did. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Our Love and Prayers are with all of you. I will always remember him entertaining us on his Ukulele!

I am grateful for your hard work and commitment to Truth. It has inspired many to continue defending and sharing the beautiful mystery of the Gospel. My prayers are with you all.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
