Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home (a.k.a. Allen G. Madison's Evergreen Mem FH Obituary

Native of Vicksburg, MS and resident of Cedar Hill, TX  was discharged from his earthly duties on July 2, 2019. Dr. Lassiter’s life was full of joy and love for humanity.  He was a living well of refreshing water to all mankind, regardless of cultural barriers quenching their thirst for higher skills and learning. Dr. Lassiter was truly a man sent from God to fulfill the voids wherever they existed in order to bring stability and creditability through his teachings, pasturing, and parenting management skills.  He served his country as a retired officer of the US Army and finished his career as the Chancellor of the Dallas County Community Colleges and board member of the African American Museum.  He was a devoted and committed husband to his wife, Demetria Lassiter and was an example of true fatherhood to his Son; Dr. Wright Lassiter, III and daughter Michele Ewell.  Dr. Lassiter, Servant of God, WELL DONE! A tribute of Dr. Lassiter’s life will be celebrated at the Concord Church on Saturday, 7/13/2019 at 11 a.m. You may visit Dr. Lassiter, Jr. as he slumbers in sweet repose on Friday, 7/12/2019 from 12:30pm to 5pm at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home with a Twilight Service to follow from 6pm to 8pm at Concord Church, 6808 Pastor E.K. When Dr. Lassiter Wright, Jr. was a DCCCD chancellor, I had an opportunity to meet with him twice in his office. During our conversation, Dr. Wright kindly agreed to write a foreword for my book of poetry entitled "Hidden Facts." Dr. Wright also encouraged and inspired me to organize a book signing event at North Lake College on February 3, 2009, featured on "The Dallas Morning News." A few years later, my second book (translated work) entitled "The lyric poetry of Dr. Krishna Hari Baral" was...

Dr. Wright L. Lassiter, Jr. will always be someone I fondly remember and greatly appreciate. He was my president at El Centro College, and I was honored to know him and serve on his leadership team.

Dr. Lassiter had a big heart, loved all people, and was passionate about community colleges and student learning. I will miss him, and may he be in heaven with God and his beloved wife.

Rest in peace and well done, dear man. God bless and thank you for sharing your...

Wright, sorry to have heard about the passing of your father. Having only been in his presence a few times, knowing you, we see the impact he made on your life. May God comfort you and the family knowing he will Rest In Peace having been a faithful servant.

To the Lassiter family
I will never forget & benefited from Dr. Lassiter as one of my instructor at Dallas Baptist Unv. He made learning make sense.
God said your work is done. You will be missed.

I will never forget the deposits gained while in his many leadership classes at church. He will, however; be remembered most for the wisdom, counsel and authority demonstrated during a critical junction in my life. God
used him to remove stumbling blocks that tried to abort a spiritual assignment. It was delayed but not denied- COMPLETE
I shall never forget his love for what is just. PRAYING FOR FAMILY

Sincere condolences on Wright's passing. He was a true gentleman and leader in Education and human rights. He will be missed. It was with Honor that the Oak Cliff Lions Club presented Wright its Humanitarian Award in 2007. May God Bless Wright and the Family.
