McGREW, Drewie E. – Of Holly, age 85, joined his wife in Heaven on Monday, January 1, 2018  at his residence. 


Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Wes Morris officiating. 


He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. 


Visitation 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and 12 p.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home. 


Drewie was born in Senath, MO on March 18, 1932, the son of James and Lila (Johnson) McGrew. 


Mr. McGrew was employed as a crane operator at Chevrolet Metal Fabricating Plant, retiring in 1991, after 38.9 years of service. 


He loved his family and he raised them on a farm in Holly, Michigan, where he taught them to care for horses, cows, pigs and chickens. 


In his younger years he enjoyed pheasant hunting and raising Brittany Bird dogs. 


Surviving are four sons, Don,Bill (Janet),Jim (Michelle),David (Joy);


2 daughters, Paula (Walter) Horton, Carla Rigsby; 


17 grandchildren, Jennifer (Don) May, Jessica (Rick) Kuehn, Kandie (Todd) DeWeese, Lori McGrew, Sarah Milledige, James (Angela) McGrew, Jody (Dennis) Jackson, Matt (Tricia) McGrew, John (Nicole) McGrew, Paul (Tonya) Conway, Kris Conway, Bart Horton, Heather Maurer, Darrell (Kelli) Rigsby, Stephanie (James) Maas, Jason (Laura) McGrew and Jane McGrew; 


26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;


2 sisters, Naomi Baugus and Mildred Pruett; 
3 sisters-in-law, Judy Yates, Louise Hopper, Delois (Sonny) Vallaire; 


several nieces and nephews. 


He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; parents, James and Lila McGrew; daughter-in-law, Judi McGrew; son-in-law, Darrell Rigsby; grandchildren, Renae Miller, Ryan McGrew and great-grandchild, Kyle Miller; 3 brothers, Paul, Hughes and Marvin; 2 sisters, Buna and Nadine.

Wish I could have been there today. Going to miss you, enjoyed getting to come by and visit whenever I was up there. I am glad I had the chance to visit you and Paula a couple times this year. My prayers to the family, he is now home with Francis Jane where he has wanted to be for sometime now.

Dear Carla, Stephanie and Darrell so sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad and Grandpa. You were a very dedicated daughter to your dad Carla there is not a lot of people out there that would do all you did for him it showed you loved him very much. Remember all the fun times you all had together and how fortunate you were blessed so many years with him. Hug each other often and take time to heal and know you have a lot of people thinking about you.

We are sorry for your loss-hold onto your memories and they will help you get through this.
