I just learned of Professor Kulhawy's passing via the Cornell Engineering magazine. My father, a geotechnical engineer, held Prof. Kulhawy in highest regards professionally and personally and I am so grateful for his mentoring and kindness as I came to Cornell as a freshman.

I just heard at the Conference in New Zealand that Prof. Kulhawy passed away. I always remember him as a good teacher and person. He and Gloria used to invite us, as Ph.D. students of him or others(who are staying in Ithaca), to their home during the thanksgivings. My heartiest condolences to you dear Gloria.

I just heard of Fred's passing. So, sorry for your loss. He was an amazing teacher and I will be forever thankful to him for his kindness as I fumbled through grad school. I called him last year and reconnected after such a long lapse, and could not believe he remembered me. He is missed. MEng - 1983

Fred,
You were one of the most influential people in my life, perhaps the most influential in my professional life. I consider it a great privilege to have had you as a mentor and friend for the last 33 years. I miss ya already.
Fred was one of guiding lights of geotechnical engineering and, besides that, a Jersey Boy!
Gloria, please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.
