Duane Anderson

Duane Anderson, 78, Hope, ND died on Monday, September 12, 2011 as a result of an auto accident near Hope. Duane Raymond Anderson was born May 3, 1933 near Pillsbury, ND to Ernest and Ruby (Holmen) Anderson. He attended school in Pillsbury and graduated high school in 1952. For many years Duane farmed near Pillsbury. On April 27, 1973, he married Janice Schmidt Holm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hope. They moved into Hope in 1977. Duane continued to farm until the late 1980's. After farming, he was employed for several years by Swanson Health Products, Fargo, Randy Richards Farm and the City of Hope as maintenance manager. He enjoyed roller skating, hunting, antique collecting, furniture restoration and auctions. Duane also appreciated music and was a proud member of the Hope Centennial Choir. He enjoyed working on projects for the Steele County Historical Society and also served as its President. He is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Jarrett (Sandra) Anderson, Rochester, MN and Nicklaus Anderson, Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Alec and Evan Anderson and Hope and Gabriella Anderson; and sister, Grace (Paul) Evans, Mead, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gwen Downs, Dolores Risser and Agnes Mitzel; and infant brother, James. Visitation: Friday, September 16, 2011 from 5 to 8 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hope. Funeral: Saturday at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial: Hope Cemetery.
