Duane was a special person - he was kind to everyone, and so good to my brother, Skip, checking on him regularly. My husband and I ran into him just a few short weeks ago in Kalispell. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I had Mr. Knutson as a teacher at North many years ago. I remember him as being one of my favorite teachers, always pushing us and always making things interesting to learn. My heart goes out to his family right now. May the great memories you have of him help you through your grief.

I knew Duane as a fine teacher at North when I was subbing there and when my own kids were students there. Amy would have been thrilled to know he was a Concordia grad as that is where she also attended college. I remember Duane as a great disciplinarian with jr high kids, no easy task, but nevertheless totally enjoying the kids and making history come alive for them. He was such a sharp dresser and set such a good example for the kids and the staff. I have not kept contact with him since he...

I only had the pleasure of sharing last summer with Duane, but was totally enchanted with his intellect, enthusiasm, caring and sharing. We went for some wonderful walks, dined and wined in Kalispell and White Fish' best; went to theatre; bar-b-ques; sightseeing. Some light hiking into gorgeous areas of Glacier Park. He was a person that I was so looking forward to getting to know him better. His loss is truly heartbreaking, and I can only wish his family and friends my most sincere...

I taught with Duane for several years at North, and before that I taught with Don at East and I also had Dee as a student there. Duane was an absolutely wonderful teacher, and more than, a wonderful human being. He was always kind and caring and very dedicated to his students. What a loss for the world! My sympathy and prayers are with the whole family.

Mr. Knutson was my history teacher at North and always pushed me to go farther and do better. He always knew when you tried to pull his leg. I will always remember him and feel privleged that I got to sit in his classroom. To his family and friends I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Don and Helen,
I was so sorry to learn of Duane's passing. I count him as one of my special friends in this life. He was such a caring, special man. We had such a nice phone visit some time ago and I always regretted we didn't visit more often. I will treasure my friendship with him always. My sincerest sympathy to both of you and your entire family. Kathy Perry

Duane was truly an exceptional person that I was fortunate to meet through our singles group- always with a smile and a warm hug - always thinking of others. That rare gem that I was truly blessed to have known. "I'll miss you my friend."
