Not sure what to say?

We were friends of Duane’s beginning in the mid-1980s, when Clemens worked with Duane at Forms by Design in Portland. After leaving Forms, we became personal friends, traveling from time to time from our homes in Portland and Boston to visit John and Duane at the Beehive in Alfred. We kept in touch after moving to Tampa, Florida in 2002, and visited Duane at his new residence on Kennebunk Rd. in Alfred. What to say? If you knew Duane, then you probably know the sentiments being felt at this time. I'm sure Duane would want each of us to celebrate the life he lived in this community. Duane will be sorely missed by many, many friends. Recently, I was privileged to enjoy an evening with Duane and other friends at a dinner party. I was friends with Duane for 46 years. He was a kind, loving person who appreciated the 19th century far more than the 20th or 21st. We have shared good times and bad, and through it all he was a staunch, loving friend. We particularly shared a love of cats, music, antiques, houses and farms. I will miss him very much. I like to think of him happily reunited with John and his loved ones.

They will both be missed in the gay community.
