Duane J. Thomas

Duane, you will be long remembered as a great benefactor and colleague. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I just learnt of Duane's sad demise. Duane was my first boss at the ISR when I was a graduate student at the Univ of Michigan. I remember him as one of the finest human beings who knew how to make others comfortable in difficult work situations. It was at ISR that I learned all about the analysis of survey data. He married Barbie who was my colleague at ISR and a very dear friend. May he find eternal peace. I also want to convey my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and friends.

I remember a few decades ago, when I was stronger, and slimmer, I was riding behind Duane, who seemed to be loafing. I tried hard to keep up with him, but after a couple of miles, he dropped me. He was a great biker, and a great guy. Judy, I'm sorry for your, and our, loss.

We are so saddened by Duane's passing. He was a man who loved life. He especially loved biking, good food, great opera, being with friends and of course UM football. His love of nature was always evident. He was a good man.

Dear Marcia,
I was so sorry to read of your brother's death in the Ann Arbor News. I remember him from meeting him a few times at the township. I know he will be dearly missed by you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
