I remember Dr. Clarke as Headmaster of The Hutchins School. He inspired in me a love of learning, and a great vocational commitment to schoolmastering as a profession.

My sincere condolences to his family, and to all those who knew and respected him. Godspeed, Sir.

When I was a boy Rev Clarke was my Headmaster at The Peninsula School. Whilst having the utmost respect for him he was very scary at the same time and we were all so frightened of him. Quick! Run! 'Skull' is coming! was a catchphrase you would hear in the playground. He was the archetype headmaster who loved literature, drama, music and his assemblies used aspects of all of these. He would tell us stories of his time in the RAAF during the War and if we were in trouble he would use his...

Dr Clarke taught me at Hutchins. My first meeting was not that great, as I was causing trouble in Drama, and the new headmaster gave me a whack. That whack set me on the straight and narrow so to speak, and Hutchins school gave me the education of a life time. Thankyou Dr Clarke. RIP
