Every year we think of Dustin, Julie, and the kids on Memorial Day. He was the first Marine I can remember knowing that lost his life after Josh went to The Basic School with Dustin. There have been many since, but this family has a special place in our heart. Rest In Peace Dustin. Julie, we love you. Prayers to you and your family today. ♥

Dustin was a great Marine. We only served together in The Basic School but I have fond memories of good times together. He was an all around great guy and I was very saddened to learn of his death in 2005. It is on these Memorial Day weekends that I think back on lost friends that Dustin immediately pops to mind. As someone who lost my father who was a Marine and killed in service, I feel for the family and can only hope that peace has found you all. Best wishes and Semper Fi.

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Dustin M. Shumney US Marine 1st Lieutenant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible...

To the family and friends of 1st Lt. Dustin M. Shumney:
It has truly been my honor to sign Dustin's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that Dustin will always be remembered in my home.
With love and respect ~ Peggy
